It goes without saying that Star Wars will also be represented in the cinema in the future. Nevertheless, the future of the franchise looked better, at least in the cinema. After the two Game Of Thrones writers canceled their trilogy, fans are wondering when to go after The Rise Of Skywalker. Fans need not worry about the Star Wars franchise. Although Solo: A flopped Star Wars Story and Star Wars 8: The Final Jedi was deemed bad by both fans and critics, chances are still good. So Star Wars 9 was able to lay an extremely successful ticket sales. So almost as many tickets were pre-ordered in the first 24 hours, as for Avengers: Endgame. One can therefore assume that Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker at least financially a success.
Also Star Wars series will be produced in the future enough. For Disney's new streaming service Disney + next to The Mandalorian five more series are planned. Thus, in the next few years, a Rogue One series, an Obi Wan spin-off and three unknown projects are produced. The animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars is in 2020 after a long break in another round. The future of Star Wars is thus secured on the small screens. But what about the cinema?
Fans were already worried when Disney CEO Bob Iger announced that Star Wars would pause after The Rise Of Skywalker. When the two Game Of Thrones authors David Benioff and D. B. Weiss also canceled their trilogy, the first fans became uneasy. But Lucasfilms boss Kathleen Kennedy gives the all-clear. The dates for the next three Star Wars films in December 2022, December 2024 and December 2026 will remain. The only question is which film and which director will appear first.
We are supposed to learn more about this in January 2020. But before that, the finale of the Skywalker saga awaits us. Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker will be released on December 18, 2019 in German cinemas.
